I'm a little late to this party (each of these videos has well over 100,000 views…), but how great are these Tracy Anderson Webisodes?? If you do all three videos at one time, you get a terrific 25 minute workout. I've always said, Tracy Anderson is the only workout where I've actually seen the shape of my body change. These videos are a great way to try it out for yourself. If you stick with it, you'll be hooked! Then you, too, will be gobbling up every DVD she puts out. I currently have…um…nine Tracy DVD's and still want to order her new Mini Trampoline Workout and her upcoming workout series for Pregnancy. It should be noted that I don't own a mini trampoline…and am not pregnant. Hmmm…maybe I am a tad obsessed.

Good afternoon, Veggies!! How are we all doing this fine Tuesday after Thanksgiving??? I hope everyone had a relaxing, food and fun filled weekend. Hey…what's that I see in the distance?? Why…it's a wagon. Let's hop back on it, shall we??
Now where did we leave off??? Oh, yes. My favorite 30 minute workout videos. I have certain criteria for a good 30 minute workout. First and foremost, the video has to be a challenge. If I am going to go through the trouble of changing into workout clothes, I need to break some sort of a sweat. If I don't feel like the workout is doing anything, I'd rather drink my coffee and watch The View. Next, the workout should require very little equipment. If I have to spend fifteen extra minutes hauling out some contraption (I'm looking at you Fluidity Bar…) it's not worth it to me. Finally, the video can't be annoying. That means no annoying instructors, no annoying music and no annoying weirdo moves. It should be noted that each person's "annoying" threshold is a very individual thing. What I find tolerable might make you want to punch the television. That being said, the following DVD's are some of my favorites.
My love of the Tracy Anderson workout is well documented. Her latest incarnation is a 90 day program consisting of nine 30 minute muscular structure workouts and one 30 minute cardio workout. To achieve maximum results, Tracy wants you to do the muscular structure and cardio workouts together. But just between you and me…when I am pressed for time, I'll do muscular structure one day and cardio the next. At $90 Metamorphosis is pricier than the other videos, but for that money you get ten different workouts. That breaks down to less than $10 per workout. Besides this is the only workout where I have actually seen the shape of my body change. I'll pay $90 for that!! Can't recommend it enough.
The express version of the one hour Physique 57 workout, this videois not for the faint of thigh. I've been doing this video for over a year and I still have to take breaks during some of the moves. Ballet inspired, this workout quite literally kicks your butt. When Charli and I did this video for the first time at the end she shouted, "That was the short version?!?! I don't even want to know what the 1 hour workout is like!!" If you do want to know what the 1 hour workout is like, you can check that out HERE.
This workout is great, but don't come to it looking for yogi spiritual enlightenment. Jillian doesn't even give you so much as a parting "namaste." This is more "exercise" yoga. Some of you may like it for that reason...some of you may hate it for that reason. I like it because you work up a sweat, it has fantastic core work and you get two 30 minute workouts on one dvd. As for inner peace…eh…not so much.
Some days you just want to do some old school jumping jacks, sit-ups and push-ups. This workoutis for those days. Basic but not boring, this DVD includes three separate workouts. Each workout uses a 3-2-1 circuit training method: 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio and 1 minute of abs. This workout is Erin's favorite of the bunch. She also wanted me to tell you that she loves Jillian Micheals-Ripped in 30(which I haven't tried yet).

This weekend John and I traveled out of town for our friends' wedding. Saturday afternoon, as we sat down to a quick lunch before the ceremony, John turned to me and said, "Hey, isn't that your hero?" My first thought was, "My mom is here?!?" But as I turned around I saw that our fellow luncher was not my mom but rather my guru, my motivator, the voice in my head telling me to work out…Tracy Anderson. The reason that John recognized Tracy so easily is because he has stared at her face in our living room at least 5 days a week for the better part of the year. John: "You should say something to her." Me: "NO!!" John: "What?! Why not?! You love her DVDS! You think she is terrific! She would want to hear that!" Me: "No! Stop it! I am not doing that." I wasn't going to do that for two reasons:
Everything that Gwyn-iesays is true. After this workout, you feel like a lean, mean fitness machine. Parts that were once jiggly are jiggly no more, your skin pulls tighter to the muscle and your posture is improved. Remember thejumping test?? After doing the Tracy Anderson workout for about 2 weeks, I am happy to report that the butt is coming to a full stop. It is by far one of the best workouts I've ever done.
Hmmm…What's that now??? "What is the bad news?" you ask. Nothing. Never mind. Just focus on the good news. Oh, ok. It's…kinda…well…boring. It's lots of repetition, an hour long (an hour and a half if you add in the cardio) and the music is just ok. I should also warn you that, the first couple of times you do the workout, the moves seem so bizarre that you feel as if your body is a completely foreign entity over which you have very little control. Or maybe that was just me...
But…to reiterate…IT WORKS. So what if you're a little bored? You know what is boring?? Not fitting into your pants is boring. A butt jumping without you is boring. Spending time and money on yet another exercise regime that doesn't deliver results is boring.
Since I enjoy company in my madness, I enlisted my resident guinea pigs Charli and Erin to try Tracy Anderson with me. When asked for their thoughts, Charli said, "My thoughts = OW." and Erin said, "My arms hurt." and "Tell her to stop making those faces at me."
Want to judge for yourself?? Here's a Tracy video to get you started:
